SOSA League

Red Cards / Discipline Dates

SOSA conducts all discipline according to Ontario Soccer Operating Procedures

If you received a red card during the game, you will most likely be subject to Discipline By Review (DBR) where the league reviews the infraction and applies the correct suspension.  Contact the league where you received your red card to find out why you were dismissed.

If the infraction charges are for a specific number of game or period of time, or if a fine is less than $500, then the red card will be handled by DBR  If the infraction is more serious, and is for a varied period of time (for example 1-3 months) or is a fine more than $500 then you will be required to attend a disciplinary hearing.  Information about Discipline Hearings is below.

If you don't wish to request a hearing and are satisfied with the penalty then you will wait until the league advises your Club how your suspension will be served (which games you will sit out).  Do not sit out of a game until you have been notified which ones apply.

You have the right to request a hearing rather than be disciplined by review.  To do this you must:

Once both have been received, then SOSA will schedule a hearing and send you a Notice of Hearing with the time and date of the hearing. In accordance with Ontario Soccer's published policy, SOSA has published the following dates for Discipline Hearings for the 2026 Outdoor Season.  Publication of these dates voids the prerequisite of providing 7 days notice for a hearing when required.
