SOSA Hiring Fulltime District Technical DIrector
The
Southeast Ontario
Soccer Association (SOSA) is one of twenty-one districts
affiliated with the Ontario
Soccer Association (OSA), acting as a branch association
with the defined boundaries of Hastings, Prince Edward, Lennox -Addington,
Frontenac and Leeds Counties. SOSA
provides recreational and competitive soccer for men, women and youth. SOSA has
22 Clubs, 1 District League, and has club teams participating in 3 additional competitive
leagues. SOSA had 3000 participants for
Indoor 2010-2011 and 14,000 participants in Outdoor 2011.
The Technical Director will
provide technical direction and leadership to players and coaches within the
district, regardless of ability. This direction will follow the values and
philosophy set out in the Ontario Long Term Player Development framework (LTPD)
which is based on the Canadian Soccer Association’s Wellness to World Cup Long
Term Player Development model. The Technical Director will support the Clubs in
adopting and implementing Ontario Long Term Player Development within the SOSA
Region (LTPD - SOSA).
The District Technical Director
will be accountable to the SOSA board and will be supervised by the President
of the board
The responsibilities include
but are not limited to:
- Providing
leadership and management of all SOSA policy and procedures with regards to
technical issues
- Develop and
implement a program to coach the coaches across the district
- Support all clubs
in player development – across recreation and competitive levels
- Develop and
implement district Elite Training, expanding on the R5 program both at U12 and
above
- Take a lead role
in LTPD clinics
- Form a close
working relationship with SOSA and OSA head coaches
- Introduce elite
player fitness programs for all district players
- Instruct all NCCP
coaching clinics within district
- Establish working
relationships with local school boards & community groups
- Establish and
implement District – Corporate sponsorship program
- Work closely with
district Administrator to achieve all SOSA goals
The desired candidate must
possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Personal traits
of enthusiasm, exceptional communication and leadership, show initiative and be
able to operate unsupervised
- Must have earned
a national “B” License or equivalent and experience working in the areas of
elite player development and coaching education.
- Qualifications or
experience in sports management, sports science, human movement or related
field would be advantageous
- 5 to 10 years
experience coaching at the provincial level or higher
- 5 to 10 years
experience working with volunteer boards, charities
- 5 years
experience in the development and execution of a soccer technical plan for
coaches and players.
- Professional
playing experience is desired but not required
The Technical Director will be
required to work outside of normal office hours and travel is expected as part
of the role. The position will be based in Kingston and will be responsible for
the entire SOSA district.
